Gamer Moves Out of Apartment Building and Accidentally Leaves Box of Old Games Behind

Jul 21, 2023

A box of old video games for various platforms is unfortunately left behind by one gamer after they move out of an apartment building.

A gamer recently made an unfortunate mistake when they forgot a box of old games while moving out of an apartment building. While the collection did not include any recent games, there were several nostalgic titles many gamers would want to have in their gaming libraries.

Gaming finds itself in the ninth generation of video game consoles, with the Xbox Series X and PS5 making up some of the most recent systems on the market. While gamers enjoy playing the latest releases from triple-A developers on these new machines, many like to return to iconic games from past generations. Over the past decades, numerous classic games have been released, with fans having fond memories of their time playing them. Recently, one gamer made the mistake of leaving some of their old games behind for someone else to discover.

The noteworthy occurrence was highlighted in a recent Reddit post by a user known as Myaubs on the platform. According to the Reddit user, they discovered the box of classic games after a gamer moved out of their apartment building. The image shared by Myaubs showed the collection of titles that had unfortunately been left behind. In the box were games for the PC from a variety of genres, such as the real-time strategy game Warcraft 3 and the first-person shooter Battlefield 4. In addition, the player had copies of The Sims 2, Rome: Total War Gold Edition, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, and Mass Effect, among others. The gamer even had left behind PS3 copies of Fight Night Round 3 and DJ Hero.

This box of forgotten games has created quite the conversation on Reddit, with many in the Gaming subreddit intrigued. With over 4.7K upvotes, the post by Myaubs gained a lot of traction, with many users hoping that the old games could be returned to the original owner. In the comments, some gamers pointed out the potential sentimental value of the collection, considering most of the titles were over a decade old, and others suggested that Myaubs should contact the landlord of the apartment building. Beyond talking about returning the games to the original owner, many gamers in the comment section discussed their fond memories of some of the titles seen in the box, such as the MMORPG Guild Wars.

While it is sad to see gamers accidentally leave old games and even consoles behind, it is unfortunately not an uncommon occurrence. Another gamer recently found their Nintendo DS that had been missing for 16 years, while a classic SNES cartridge of Donkey Kong Country 2 was discovered by an HVAC Technician after being lost in a house’s ventilation system for years. Hopefully, the left behind PC and PS3 games discovered by Myaubs can be returned to the original owner in the future.
